About Misch Tech

At Misch Tech, Jacob Misch, Ph.D. and friends/peers enjoy having the opportunity to work on a variety of technical projects, including theatrical productions and assistive technologies. We are a dynamic engineering community based in Asheville, NC, with a state-renowned STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art & Math) production studio.

Our international portfolio of projects have involved conducting and teaching leading-edge research and reviews, as well as engaged and motivated teams from diverse backgrounds and interests, as part of a larger alumni network.

Misch-n (Mission) Statement

Our mission is to pioneer creative consulting solutions that seamlessly integrate engineering and design across STEAM industries. We strive to unlock innovation by harnessing the combined power of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, creating a holistic approach to drive excellence and transformative impact.

Meet Jacob Misch

I am a mechanical engineer with 8 years of experience in rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology. I've enjoyed branching out into a variety of industries including theatrical design, haunted house prop fabrication, military defense prototyping, and teaching at a university level.

My engineering background introduced me to 3D modeling, rapid fabrication techniques, and unique mechanism designs. I've incorporated these skills into my current role, where I manage a university makerspace (UNC Asheville's STEAM Studio) and their theatre's Scene Shop as their Technical Director. STEAM (aptly named after Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Studio is a phenomenal interdisciplinary space with a fully-functional wood shop, metals shop, and CNC machine shop.

My "forever goal" is to improve the human condition through innovative and context-driven device design and fabrication, as well as mentoring students across the fields of industrial design, mechanical engineering, and computer science. Along the way, I strive to inspire and entertain others with my unique skillset and characteristic humor.
